Eric Church and the Ohana Fest! 9/28/18
This weekend I traveled to the west coast for a little getaway & found myself at Ohana Fest!
When Eddie Vedder (lead singer of Pearl Jam) planned the Ohana fest, he didn't try to fit the artists he invited into a box. It was a little bit of everything; Norah Jones, Amos Lee, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Mumford and Sons, and a little country rock with Eric Church. I've been to my fair share of Eric Church concerts, but I had never seen Eric Church on the beach, so that was a real treat and the reason I planned on going to the festival! He closed out the first day, after Norah Jones, playing an all acoustic set with some new music that was just released to the fan club last week. A great moment was hearing him sing Hippie Radio and telling the story about his dad driving him around and singing to the radio when he was a kid. He had to be off the stage by ten, which was a bummer since he only played for an hour and a half, but that's typically how it goes with festivals. He took requests from the audience and played a little of everything, old and new. It is always fun to see him with just his guitar and his amazing voice.
Ohana is not a country music festival, so I was a little out of my element, but I would recommend going if you live near Laguna beach or coming for just a one day ticket, depending on who is playing and your taste in music! Aside from watching Eric Church, I did stay for part of Eddie Vedder's acoustic set, and Mumford and Sons were amazing to see live!
