Restaurants and Bars in the ATL
I went to Atlanta to visit a friend that had recently moved there and to see one of my favorite bands Midland perform at the Variety Playhouse and it was a super fun quick weekend!
Variety Playhouse-
As an overall venue I would have to say I was very unimpressed. The good parts are it is a small venue, and it has a nice standing room section, as well as seats. The negative part of this venue is that it seems to be very poorly run. They seemed to struggle to get people in and out, the line was ridiculous, the people that we encountered that work there were rude and unhelpful, so this would not be a venue I would go to again.
The Hampton and Hudson in Inman Park-
This is a fun restaurant and bar in a really cool neighborhood. It serves new American eats.
Ponce Market-
This is a really cool indoor-outdoor shopping and restaurant area, in the refurbished Sears, Roebuck & Coe. Warehouse building. It has a Central Food Hall, with just about every selection of food you could want, and a wide variety of stores from local to upscale. I really couldn't get over the trendy urban feel.
Lady Bird-
This is a super cool indoor-outdoor restaurant and bar. It has a terrific brunch, and great drinks in an impressive rustic summer camp feel, with picnic tables and lawn games outside.
Bars
Johnny's - Buckhead
Johnny's is evidently an Atlanta staple; it is probably the darkest bar I have ever been in and allows smoking, which is crazy to this girl from CO. The dance floor is on the smaller size, and the bar was packed, but definitely fun! There was a line to get in the whole night.
Ivy-Buckhead
Ivy is a club in a converted mansion in the heart of Buckhead, with a dance floor, younger aged patrons, nice seating areas outside and a huge bar inside.
Gypsy Kitchen-
If you are looking to go somewhere with a nicer, quieter vibe and have drinks while looking at the skyline this is your place. Beautiful, classy decor and Spanish and Iberian fusion plates.
Clermont Lounge-
This was given to us as a recommendation and is a must do in Atlanta if you are over 18. Not going to go into details but it was very entertaining and at the same time disturbing. You will have to see for yourself.
Clermont Hotel-
If you want a nice rooftop bar with views of the city the top of the Clermont Hotel is gorgeous and would be perfect for a summer night. The bar downstairs is classy and fun too!
It was such a quick trip, but I loved how much Atlanta has to offer in the forms of tons of great restaurants, fun bars, beautiful scenery and a wide range of low-high dollar options!
