Farm Aid 2019
It is always impressive when you get to see big names come together for a cause. Willie Nelson, John Mellencamp, Dave Matthews, and Neil Young have put on this benefit concert for 34 years to help support and raise awareness for family farmers. Since 1985, Farm aid has raised 57 million to help small farmers succeed and bring awareness to the Good Food Movement.
It was a star-studded line up with the names listed above Tanya Tucker, Luke Combs and many others who donated their time and talent to support the cause. This year it took place in the beautiful hills of East Troy, Wisconsin at Alpine Valley Music Theater. The food was terrific and all brought by local farmers, many of whom attended the festival. There were also many booths set up to teach about farming, machinery, compost-making, and even milking cows.
Unfortunately, all 30,000 of us got rained on all day. I was impressed by how tough Wisconsin people are as far as dealing with the rain and sitting through it soaked. I think that was the only downfall of the event. If I went to Alpine Valley again, I would get covered seats or seats on the decks, because they come with a porta-potty.
It was a memorable event for a great cause and unreal to see that much talent on a stage in one day.
