The Dark Horse, Devin Dawson at the Bellco Theater in Denver, CO. September 13, 2018
I love Devin Dawson; his sound, the realness of his lyrics, the way he mixes rock with country, but most of all I love his authenticity. He wrote every song on his debut album and said listening to Dark Horse will give you an idea of who he is. “My heart bleeds for country music, where the honest outlaw truth is, no I ain’t no dark knight, I am a little more dark horse."
Last night I got the opportunity to meet him, and in all the meet and greets that I have done, it was by far the longest and the warmest. He is charming, witty and just an all-around nice guy. He takes time to talk to his fans and genuinely appreciates them being there. If you haven’t had a chance to check out his new single, “Asking for a friend,” I would definitely recommend.
The show last night was at the Bellco Theatre in Denver, Co, which I had surprisingly never been to before. The great part of the theater is its location, it is in the Denver Convention Center, so it's surrounded by great restaurants, fabulous hotels, and 16th street mall. I personally dislike concerts with no standing room, and you'd typically find me at the front of the stage at most shows! At this venue every person had a seat, and you could definitely feel that it was a venue you would see a play, not a live music show. I would choose other Denver venues over this one, but it was overall worth it to get to see Devin Dawson on an otherwise low key Thursday night!
