Hotel Del Coronado September 14, 2018
The Hotel Del Coronado was built in 1888 and at that time was the largest resort hotel in the world. It was frequented by Thomas Edison, L.Frank Baum, Marilyn Monroe, Theodore Roosevelt, and many other presidents. The grounds are stunning, a beautiful courtyard in the center of the building, a grassy field outside, a beautiful pool, fantastic architecture. The beach is vast and gorgeous, makes for beautiful sunset pictures.
The rooms are expensive, so if you're going to splurge to stay there you have to get the full experience and stay in the Victorian building! It has the look and the charm, which is the reason for going in the first place. Our room inside the Victorian building was quaint and pretty. It overlooked the courtyard, and past the hotel, you could see the ocean. As with any old hotel, it's not the quietest, so bring the extra pair of earplugs if you're a light sleeper!
We did the s’mores on the beach one night, and it was a little overpriced and looking back would have probably skipped it, but we got some good laughs burning the marshmallows and will definitely remember the experience!
Overall it was a fun weekend, but it definitely came with a hefty price tag! It was fun to check off a bucket list, but I'm excited to check out other options when I'm back in the west coast!
