Carolina Country Music Fest Cruise
Carolina Country Music fest was an absolute blast this October. I met some amazing people and had so much fun sailing around the Carribean with Country Musicians. You take off from Charleston which is one of my favorite and most girlie cities, and the night before the cruise offered a preparty with DeeJay Silver.
Highlights
Being on the ship with all the DJ's and artists (except Cole Swindell who flew in just for his performance day) and seeing them in everyday life. You never knew who would sit at your bar table or be at the blackjack table. It offered oppurtunities to meet band members, seeing a little of the behind the scenes action, and getting to know some fantastic talent that is about to take off big. Also, many of the acts like Lee Brice and Joe Diffe played numerous times throughout the cruise, so if you had to miss it, you could find them again. Stopping at the Islands and being in the beautiful Bahamas couldn't be beat. One of the islands is a private Carnival beach, so it was fun to be with the only people there and all from our ship. Getting on and off the ship was easy. The theme parties were so fun and people really dedicated themselves to their costumes which made it more fun.
This was the first year of the cruise, so I think they were working out the kinks, but overall it was fantastic. I think the headliner needs to be a more prominent country music act, and be willing to be on the boat for at least two days to hang out with fans. The weather was horrible, which was not the cruise's fault but made for a lot of motion sickness and a lot of warm clothes. I am a planner, so I would love to see the itinerary at least a month before the cruise. The lines at the bar were crazy! I don't think they expected or were ready for what Country fans do best, haha. Check-in and out was easy! Having more time to interact with the artists would be appreciated. I like that there was a lot of Carolina up and comers singing on the ship because most of them I had never heard of, but were amazingly talented. I would go again and can't wait to see the lineup for next year!
